The 18 contributors to Skagit Women Print include printmakers and painters, as well as poets, photographers, and ceramic artists. Each artist produced an edition of 25 prints, drawing from a range of printmaking methods, including linoleum block, wood block, solar plate etching, vitreograph, mezzotint, chine collé and serigraph.
In this suite of original prints the theme reflects on how the Skagit Valley influences each artist’s work or life. This collaboration is a first-time endeavor that began in the Summer of 2013 and concluded a year later. Participating artists worked together throughout the year to explore and refine methods and processes.
The project was conceived by artists Natalie Niblack and Jules Remedios Faye, who helped facilitate skill sharing workshops and access to print facilities.
HALF-REMEMBERED DREAMS
“Half-remembered Dreams,” an exhibition of black and white photographs into toned gelatin silver prints from film negatives, evoke memories and half-remembered dreams, a sense of the fragile, fleeting, ephemeral. Ambiguous, nudging toward abstraction, these lensless images tempt the imagination to see beyond the literal.
